procedure. A method once demonstrated on BBC-TV by one TonyBuzan I have his useful book "Use Your Head" that was published by the Beeb in 1974 in which he describes his "Mnemonic" system for remembering any list of items this method is well described on this web page http://www.msoworld.com/brain/mag/20...e3/bpm3_5.html "In Use Your Head, Tony Buzan presents a wonderful method for memorising up to ten items in a list - the Number-Rhyme System. As most readers of this magazine will know, it uses object 'pegs' which rhyme with the numbers one to ten. One is bun, three is tree, five is hive and so on. The even numbers follow the old children's ditty: one, two, buckle my shoe / three, four, knock at the door / five, six, pick up sticks / seven, eight, shut the gate / nine, ten, the big fat hen!" I have successfully used this for setlists: the main problem is thinking and then recalling "peg" words to associate with numbers larger than the obvious first ten. In 2005 I demonstrated it to some of the Lightfoot Orchestra, and young Barry was so impressed that at the next concert he saved for me the stage copy of that nights setlist that had been relegated to the trash can after transposing to Gord's master setlist book. that book I saw Gord consulting after one of the four Florida concerts back in February As post stroke writing legibly is difficult for me I made a determined attempt to remember all four setlists but inevitably I forgot a few and the more time went on the more I got them all mixed up in my head. the first (Gainesville) concert was easy. Gord opened with Triangle therefore all I had to remember was that a bun (=1) is usually round not triangular geddit?!! Luckily Wayne has a network of informers, who he once informed me tell him the true setlist but I believe that the setlist for the private 2005 concert at Connecticut's Mohegan Sun Casino http://www.lightfoot.ca/051023.htm is there due to my memory I note that he has so far only uploaded 2 of the 4 Massey 2008 setlists so perhaps CHar should gently remind him to read her corfid posting. |
Re: Massey- Set Lists??
I use the method of pen and small notepad..If I am in the dark I keep a finger near the last entry..
First concert this series I was 3 songs into falling in love all over again when I remembered to start writing the songs down. I generally write the whole song title except for those few that I initialize or shortform. It's therapeutic to sit and do it .. and it keeps me from wanting to snap off too many pics if my hands are busy.. I never did it till 2000 at Mariposa I think, perhaps May 2001 at Massey.. I, like Val then keep all memorabilia, passes, tickets, from each concert together with all of my other Lightfoot stuff.. I think we need a 12 step programme.. lol |
Re: Massey- Set Lists??
Too funny! I'd probably be the ultimate chronic case. Hey Char, can you just it now, Ron Jones showing up for a 12 step program with a 12 string guitar in hand. Definitely a Lighthead thing. RJ.

Re: Massey- Set Lists??
I remember long ago when I first saw a major league game live from way up in the bleachers, the guy in front of me was scoring (ie. marking balls, strikes, 6-4-3 put outs, etc, etc) on log sheets throughout the entire 6 hour double header...dedicated!
I thought, isn't most of this info gonna be available in the paper tomorrow anyhow? I just figured he was an over the top, rabid ball fan and probably should see a shrink ...I never figured that what he was doing might actually be therapy itself! your comment actually makes a lot of sense, char:) Quote:
