I appreciate the way you described the connection to Israel as for those whose "hearts were born there". Sadly, Ive not yet been to Israel, but I feel it in my heart and my soul every day. Its a part of me, even when I didn't realize it was, its always been there. I think that when I do finally go there, to visit, or maybe even to live, it'll be so overwhelming that I won't be able to bear it. You mentioned "going up"to Jerusalem. You've probably heard the term "making alliyah", which is the Hebrew term for when a Jewish person immigrates to Israel. The term "alliyah" means to ascend, and when someone moves to Israel, they aren't just immigrating, but "going UP" to it. But you probably already knew that :)
You've mentioned the wonderful theme song to Exodus...i'm sure you've also heard the Israeli National anthem...HaTikva, which means the hope..and the equally beautiful Yerushalyim Shel Zahav. I think I might have mentioned that once in the fifth grade, at the end of a holocaust memorial presentation our class gave, we sang HaTikva and it was so amazing to realize it in that context, just like it will be the first time I get to sing it in the land that it is about. And now that you've been to Jerusalem, don't the lyrics to Yerushalyim shel zahav resonate all the more?..."The mountain air is clear as wine

It breaks my heart that there are those who are still trying to split the city and take the land..those that pray with their backs to Jerusalem,who have thousands of miles of their own land, those who's holy book never ONCE mentions the name of Jerusalem, who dare to claim Israel and Jerusalem belongs to them. Kind of reminds one of the false mother in the tale about Solomon's wisdom. She didn't care for the child, she only wanted the TRUE mother not to have it, so she was all too willing to have it cut in two. Its good that that Israel has supporters like you, Rez, who know the truth of who the land belongs to.

Thanks for the beautiful expression of your thoughts and feelings on a land many of us will never have the opportunity to see.

Erica, the words to Yerushalyim shel zahav which you quoted are indeed beautiful. I wish for you the opportunity to experience first hand the home where your "heart was born". As one who lives in an area to which I have a deep connection, I can sense the yearning in your words...may that yearning be fulfilled for you, and may you have the opportunity to go up to your beloved Jerusalem one fine day.

I once heard that lovliest of love songs to Jerusalem sung at Yad Vashem - The Israeli Holocaust Museum in the city.

It was in the room of endless reflected candles, dedicated to the children, as the names were quietly spoken.

Not a performance, just a magnificent outpouring of the heart of one man as he just began to sing. And people began to listen.

In some haste as so far today my computer experience is frustrating
On my main computer I recently reinstalled Windows 98 ( this being pending the completion (still subject to problems) of a
new desktop that will thankfully be Windows XP equipped). This was for the umpteenth time and something that was hitherto
relatively trouble free but just to keep me on my toes this time it contrived to remove nearly all the links to the installed
programmes and several drivers. The latter is not really a problem just a nuisance but the former was plain annoying so I
started reloading the software.
All was OK until I faced the daunting prospect of reinstalling the ridiculous HP printer/scanner/copier stuff.
not only does it unreasonably demand 2 whopping gigabytes of free space hard to come by on a 5 gig hard drive (one reason
for building a new PC with a new 120 gig HD) but no matter what I seem to do I repeatedly get an unhelpful unsuccessful
installation message.. go away and boil your head.The galling thing is that I need to get the printer working in order to
print out a list of installed program(me)s on Susan's PC which has its own foibles (I had to try to reinstall Windows on hers
after just about anything we did on it resulted in a system lock up. Now after at least 16 attempts to reinstall Windows 98
the silly thing refuses to boot to the full windows without suffering a fatal error but it will open in safe mode (no
drivers) so at least I can still see the list of progam(me)s that were installed and verify that no files have been lost.

a better tutorial complete with screenshots to tell you after you get in the room what the room will look like.
