Nar I waited patiently while the video buffered to 100% not once but twice and the result was annoyingly silent again. and it is definitely not the sound system on my computer as an mp3 pays perfectly so I am at a complete loss as to why the sound of Tom Rush's video is eluding me. anybody else trying to hear it on a stoopid dial-up. do tell if you get better luck than me.
Thanks

I got it but I think the YouTube version is better, cleaner looking/sounding.

OK problem solved though quite why I am at a loss to say
Meanwhile a very keen old fan who is a true lighthead from head to toe very kindly emailed me another wmv file called remember.wmv (2,551,808 bytes) and that too was silent. At this stage instead of giving up I thought maybe I'd burn a video CD from the wmv file. No Nero Express took an instant dislike to the wmv file and would not touch it without giving an unknown rror message. I therefore opened my SUPER allcando video conversion program and told it to convert Landon's original wmv of 2,551,808 bytes to a VCD compliant mpeg-1 format file it did so and the resultant mpg was now a more reassuring
33,698,000 bytes and had sound.
Now to try another old wmv format video file that I know used to have sound
Partially OK the results were patchy 3 out of 4 old wmvs I tried that were handy played OK so quite why the other one and the three assorted Tom Rush videos failed I have no idea.
such are the joys and occasional frustrations of computers!!

the YouTube is the same performance on the wmv that Landon sent me..
video seems clearer on the YouTube..
makes sense why I heard him say "Tom" in the song..
lol
John - your p.m. box is full but here's my reply:

..I opened the link you sent earlier and did what I needed and loaded up the wmv. and posted the link at corfid..
Now I'm going to delete it..the YouTube is the same thing. The wmv I got from Landon was a bit fuzzier but the audio was as clear as YouTube..
ta..

Yep, when I saw the still frame I knew it was Tom Rush. I'm on his mailing list. He said the song has had a millio hits on Youtube, and that it's a wierd sort of fame -- people know the song, but not the songwriter or performer.

Tom's a great talent --had a great PBS special in 1980 with David Bromberg, and Emmylou Harris.

I think his website is just TomRush.com

Annie!!! You are again a hero!! I was trying to read what is said at the concert and could get .....by the bay. I was going to try and figure out by that. I even tried to google the song...but alas - Ms Auburn Annie to the rescue. Thanks. I will check him out, he does look familiar....now where are my glasses.

A very talented performer he is that Tom Rush man. Also he's going to be in Toronto next May at Hugh's Room and hopefully it will coincide with Gord's gigs so we can get to see him. More than likely he'll be at the Massey gigs as well if the timing works out. He worked the Riverboat in Toronto during the era of the big "folk scare of the sixties" as it's referred to by James Taylor. I always loved his version of Joni Mitchell's song "Urge For Going." The first time I requested that song he seemed caught off guard but looked back at his lead guitar player and the nod was given after a momentary pause. The room fell silent, the note sounded, and the crowd melted. It was the most eerie feeling because after the lead guitar intro, the line in the first verse goes "I woke up today and found the frost perched on the ground." Talk about chills going down you spine ay? Anyone who likes Gord would like Tom Rush as well. Stay loose guys. Ron J.
