I wish you were, too, Bill. <sigh> Aren't you going to be there on business a day or two before, as I seem to recall? And, if so, you can't just...stretch it out a bit? Maybe tell the boss you have the Vegas flu are too sick to fly... too messy, etc., give lurid details of sick to boss, etc. Get creative!

Excellent, Dave! Brink, WWG (Craig), Richard, and I will look forward to meeting you! Brink and I are staying there, too, but, I don't think we'll be getting much sleep -- we'll be WAY too excited! So, we're meeting two hours ahead of showtime - maybe we should make it 3? in front of the doors to the showroom and then we'll find some place for dinner. What say you all? 3 hours instead so we can actually eat and greet rather than rush and gush?

Hi Sheryl,
sounds fine to me...three hours before. (I've got no place to go!) I'm kind of envious to hear you are staying at the Orleans. My hotel is the "Terribles"! Gotta love those two stars! Hey, I crept into a sound check of Gord's a few years ago in Bellingham. Some kind of fun doing that....almost like two concerts for the price of one. Two weeks to go (14 sleeps!) Richard |

I'll be sorry not to be able to meet you, Border buddy. Maybe another time...
Richard, so tell me, how'd you sneak into the sound check?? Do tell!! That gives us some ideas...!! |

Hi Sheryl, et al
The five o'clock meeting seems set in stone or as someone near and dear to us might say "The wheels are set in smooth rotation". As for "sneaking" into a sound check it was sort of like "walk in backwards and tell them..." The posted guard was nowhere to be seen and so, official-like, the two of us walked with authority and audacity (it had been a long time since I had been thrown out of a theatre) to a spot in the balcony and stayed quiet and low. It was sort of like eves dropping in on a private party, but hey.... A year or so later I tried something similar in Seattle, by offering the doorman ten dollars to turn away. He said, "You obviously haven't tried to bribe a doorman lately, have you?" (Maybe I shouldn't have used a Canadian bill.) I'm quite new here, so Sheryl, catch me up if you can...where are you living....LA? Have you seen much of Gord in the past ? Looking forward very much to our get together! Night all Richard |

$10 to bribe a doorman seemed good to me! But, I guess, as far as bribes go... probably shoulda been a $20.. oh, well, HEY, let's try it together in Vegas! HEHEHEHHE!! What say you?
Yes, I live in Los Angeles (well, the San Fernando Valley), and, no, I've *never* seen Gord before. I'm somewhat new here, since October, and I've "re-discovered" my love of Gord since then. I'm in "full-tilt love," as Borderstone would say... ;) |
Hi Sheryl,
You've NEVER seen Gord before??? Wow, It will be great to talk to you after the show to get your thoughts. The San Fernando Valley....it has such a nice ring to it. It does sound idyllic for some reason. I don't think Gord has done a song about that yet; after all what would rhyme with Fernando? (On the other hand, what would rhyme with gitchee gumee?) Let's keep in touch! Richard By the way, are you driving or flying? |

John, you are SO funny!!
Richard, I'll be flying up to Vegas, but, a week or so prior to that, driving about 15 minutes west of where I live to Agoura Hills to see him. I am VERY excited!!! Yes, the VAlley is a nice bedroom community, a suburb, if you will. I'm 5 min. from Universal Studios, 10 min. freeway drive to Hollywood, 20 min. through the canyon (over the hill) to Beverly Hills. I like living in the Valley rather than the City. Quieter. I'm a quiet-life type of gal. I'm a stay-at-home mom and I volunteer at the kids' schools, and do my errands during the day... and order take-out for dinner, hahahahhaah! And listen to GL every chance I get! You need to join us in John's Friday night chatroom. We have lots of fun! Please join us next week! Whoops, well, i won't be online next week, I'll be busy...., but, the following week I'll be on. So, what rhymes with Fernando... well, if you're my age or older, you'll remember that song by ABBA called "Fernando." I think they just stuck it in there and didn't bother with the rhyming problem! Now, gitchee goomee... there's a problem..... !! Take care! Sheryl |
Rhymes with Gitchee Gumee....how about "the skies of November turned gloomy" Ring a bell?
Your Fernando Valley does sound wonderful, (I suppose after a time those places you mention are taken for granted and yes, I do recall the ABBA song. I think they like the Spanish sound of it. I'll be watching for your comments the week of the conerts to hear your impressions. I'll try to join up on Friday but my computer may not cooperate as it is of vintage era. Still, thanks for the invitation and I'll give it a tr! Richard |
