For Comedy: What's up Doc

For Suspense: The Birds
For Romance: While You Were Sleeping
For Holiday: White Christmas
For Action Packed: The Terminator

That's how it runs at the moment. Later I'll probably think of one and wish I had named it instead.

Joan of Arc (Ingrid Bergman), Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (lots of people!), Dances With Wolves (Kevin Costner) and a very obscure...Belizaire the Cajun (Armand Assante). Belizaire is the only movie I've ever purchased. Don't care for Assante but as Belizaire I do!

I love the classics: Casa Blanca, Wuthering Heights (original version), Little Women (1940's version), A Star Is Born (all versions), Pride And Prejudice (original), To Kill A Mockingbird, The Way We Were...
I also love musicals: Meet Me In St Louis, Funny Girl, Funny Lady, (actually, just about anything with Barbara S.), Oliver, My Fair Lady, Mary Popins, The Sound Of Music...
More recently, I really liked Sixth Sense...
The list could go on and on

The Godfather I and II. Very rare for lightning to not only strike twice - but to strike truer the second time. It's never been done. The strength of the acting and writing saved Godfather II from being self-indulgent. No such luck for the 3rd. Despite top-notch actors the trail had long gone cold and others concur that the script inspired indifference.(IMHO)
2 offerings I highly recommend by Terrence Malick: Days of Heaven and, of course, The Thin Red Line. Thin Red is not a war movie - it's a work of art. Any Malick fans???

OMG there are SO many good ones. These are the ones I will watch any time they're on, and ask my husband, I can recite the dialogue along with the actors
Hopscotch (Walter Matthau, Glenda Jackson)
Father Goose (Cary Grant playing against type)
The Goodbye Girl (Richard Dreyfuss and Marsha Mason)
Barefoot in the Park (Jane Fonda, Robert Redford)
Becket & The Lion in Winter (Peter O'Toole as Henry II in two fabulously written screenplays)
To Kill a Mockingbird (quintessential Peck)
The Thin Man (William Powell and that "lanky brunette with a wicked jaw" Myrna Loy)
Singing in the Rain
Airplane! (what can I say, I'm a fool for puns)
Also, guilty pleasure, the original Airport with Helen Hayes
Meet Me in St. Louis (love the period details)
The Women (and just about any other movie from 1939 except Wuthering Heights - see http://members.aol.com/grbmd/year1939.htm for a listing)
I'm sure there are many more but I can't pick just one and can't remember them all.
