Trent Severn
Earlier this month I came across a review of a local Ontario band called 'Trent Severn', curiously named after a waterway system in this province. With my interest piqued, I picked up their CD and gave this trio of young ladies a listen. Their debut album (of the same name) features songs lightly entwined with local images, Canadian names and events. Beautiful vocals, layered more than harmonized. For those familiar, I found something reminiscent of the the song “Nobody but the Baby” as found in the soundtrack of the Movie 'Oh Brother, Where Art Thou'. The scene by the river where the sirens, Emmylou Harris, Alison Krauss & Gillian Welch, place George Clooney & companions under their spell. Sounds of Crosby, Stills and Nash also can be found throughout, particularly in the first song entitled 'Snowy Soul'. You can sample a number of their songs at their website by clicking on the 'listen' tab on the bar at the top of the page. If interested, give them a listen. I hope to hear more from this talented trio in the future.
Check out their website below.
