How many people at 96 were as healthy as he was.

Agree, dsr - I remember the show when it originally aired (!) - though NOT the first show in 1951 - and it was just him, a chair, and a white towel. For an example (no props at all) see here:

According to his long-time agent, Rick Hersh.the cause was respiratory failure due to pneumonia. LaLanne had been ill for the past week. His wife, Elaine, was at his side, along with his family and friends, Hersh said.
All those years and to get taken in the end by pneumonia.

When I was little in 1972/1973,I remember seeing his show on TV. I didn't watch the whole thing of course,but what stuck with me was it's opening.
His silhouette doing jumping jacks and the annoucer introducing him.
In these past few years,he's been made famous again by those juicer commercials. I actualy watched one last time about 2 or 3 months ago.
No doubt in my mind,that he'll rest in peace.
