What's this all about?
Sorry Touhy but I consider that to be a very strange question and one whose answer should be patently obvious if you think about it.
today was Sunday October 10th 2010 (all day too) or commonly expressed as 10.10.10 which is simply a combination of values for day of the month day the month itself and the last two digits of the year that only happens every 100 years with 10s (the last one was 10th October 1910 the next October 10th 2110 (Note that it doesn't matter if the first 10 is the day in the month as I was used to in the UK or the month itself the usual US usage.
Hence the infamous religious warfare day that devstated New York to me as a UK educated bloke was on11/9/01 but to you of course it was 9/11/01
In addition next year we will have 11.11.11 and the year after 12.12.12 but ten is a nice round decimal number hence the highlighting of 10,10.10 this year.
My posting was also to celebrate that I remembered in time this morning to take a screensho at exactly 10 seconds after 10.10AM hence the full date and time was 10.10.10.10.10.10.10 which to my simple mind was very satisfying and neat.
That is what this is all about!
Feel better now??

I could also have made a screenshot at 10.10.10 PM
(as could Mende Joveski but for him the relevance was somwhat over since he is 14 hours ahead of us so it was already 10.11.10 or 10.11.10 when he read my posting (I think)

And the next time 10.10.10 falls on a Sunday will be 400 years from now.
I plan to be around in 100 years but I'm going to be a crazy old cat lady who won't know the difference.
lol, there are a lot of folks out there in that state (some are my in laws), and unfortunately many are behind the wheel, perhaps texting to boot
i haven't audited this but apparently this month has five Fridays, five Saturdays and five Sundays, all in 1 month..it happens once in 823 years

March 2010 had 5 Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
July this year had 5 Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays…
August had 5 Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays.
December 2010 will have 5 Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays… (dec.’09 had 5 Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays)
ok, if that bit of trivia made your day, you may have to backpedal a bit...seems i'm not the only one who finished an audit with different findings...twitter rules, lol

...maybe the information highway should have a few speed limits posted
btw, the next (and 1st) time the date will be 10/12/2110 is 100 years from now

Think I get it now.
There was something on the news about it.
Here's a site to mess around with dates, etc. I found out I was born on a Thursday. All sorts of goodies :
http://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadded.html?m1=10&d1=10&y1=2010&type=add&ay=400&am=&ad=&aw=
I was born on a Wednesday, Full of woe. If they mean no giddyup that might be true, though that should be spelled whoa!

Nice potentially useful website Ron
Make sure you create an easy to remember shortURL for it at:-
http://www.notlong.com
Some years ago I found a simple Javascript powered day calculator on a website for the The Cornish Extended Family;which is an informal group of people of Cornish ancestry, most, but not all are interested in genealogy. As the Cornish language name for Cornwall is Kernow my notlong shortcut is tada tada
http://www.kernow.notlong.com
(I was born on a Monday)
(And I have yet to forget that URL)
Use this calculator to find the day of the week for any date. You must have JavaScript enabled. A little message window should pop up with the date and day, when you push the button. This is only works in England after 1752.
(1752 as I am sure all of you are aware was the year that Pope Gregory revised the leap year system. The Gregorian calendar alsobeg an by dropping 10 calendar days, to revert to the previous date of the vernal equinox. all designed to make the date of Easter more regular an aim that in my opinion was not achieved as the date of the variable feast that is Easter is stll a proper mess

a Monday birth here ( i interrupted dinner )... nobody likes Mondays
ummm... 323,957 minutes til Gord takes the stage at Massey
