Dear Canadians,

If I understood correctly, U.S. President Obama is scheduled to visit Ottawa today. Although labeled a "diplomatic visit", I'm concerned that he may be trying to "bail out". Please convince him to come back. Things are a mess down here.

Thank You

Well he'll be here for a grand total of 6 hours - touch down to lift off. all business. the only canadian to see him will be the p.m. from what it sounds like..
The 'beast' arrived yesterday and a bunch of secret service have been in ottawa all week readying the city for his arrival. there's a gazillion police on duty for the route to/from the airport and air traffic has been stopped for the day. i can't imagine how much $$ has been spent for a 6 hour 'hi y'all, how ya doin', but we'll be polite while he's here, listen attentively, maybe even have something to say about a few things and make sure he gets safely back home..

he's already long gone..a short wave to the assembled on parliament hill and that was all she wrote. a quick "impromptu" visit to a local shopping area to pick up maple leaf shaped cookies for his girls and a 'beaver tail' for himself.
he (and wife & kids) was in toronto in 2004 to visit his half sister and bro-in-law with other family who couldn't make it to their wedding the year before in hawaii.
should see him again in 5...
lol

He seemed right at home and very comfortable but funny that he mentioned coming again when it warms up...the guy IS from Chicago so cold winters aren't news to him. And it really wasn't all that cold. Canadian winter weather is much the same as the New England states have..and in many cases not as bad!

Hey, if Obama, even in our wildest dreams, ever did choose to stay in Canada, it would be because he had found some really good friends there. :)

you had the first black American president greeted by Governor General Michaëlle Jean, Canada's first black governor, who is fluent in five languages

the Governor General is the Queen's representative in Canada and communicates directly with Queen Elizabeth. Before the 1980s this position was only filled by white men but since then three of five Governors General have been female

ok, we're done with all the history making, bring on those solutions

odd that only the female GG's have the spouse always hanging around and part of it all. don't recall the male GG's spouses being so involved.
Clarkson's guy was always around like white on rice.

Kenyon for P.M.!
lol
(I'm still waiting for the pics dear Kenyon)
