Shania Feels Like A Single Woman

After 14 years, Shania Twain and her husband, producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, are over. They have a six-year-old son, Eja D'Angelo. Mr. Mutt is a super recluse, so maybe that has something to do with why they live in Switzerland and not in Timmins, Ontario, where they belong. This is Elaine... er, sorry, Shania's big moment to regain her country music throne. She's got a shot, just so long as she doesn't try to pull that outer space biker look again.

{super recluse = "A person who prefers to hide theirself from society."}

Does this remind you of someone ? :)

geeze-they've been building a huge home in New Zealand I believe..I imagine she'll still be as private as she's been. Even at home here she stays out of the media. She has been here many times and up home in Timmins and other Ontario spots and largely goes un-noticed with her hair in a ponytail, no makeup and a ballcap - and if she is noticed most people here wouldn't approach her anyway..perhaps a "HI Shania!" and that'd be it....she is not into all the hype of being a 'celebrity' unless it's time to sell a record or perfume. The she appears briefly and is gone like the wind..She is a stunningly beautiful woman and I enjoy some of her music but dont' own any of her albums.
Sad to hear the news..

I am sorry to hear this. I always thought they seemed like such a happy couple.

Hey Jesse, my husband loves Shania's "outer space biker" look....lol.
Actually, he likes all of Shania's looks now that I think about it.

And your husband is probably not alone Anne.  :)

Nightingale

No, I would imagine he isn't...lol.
She is adorable and who can blame any guy for liking the way she looks. She sings pretty well too!
I wish her, and her soon to be ex, the best....it's got to be hard to be together that long and then split.

Are you really a "super recluse" Jesse?

Oh yes indeed Nightingale, "I like to keep my profile down there as much as possible." ~gl~ 1980

"Not a hermit but do not feel comfortable in crowds".

Me either.

Give me a good book, a kitty on my lap and a dog at my feet, music and maybe a little coffee and chocolate and I am good to go....lol.

Who needs crowds of people?

Jesse Joe

This is kind of funny tho, if it's a crowd of people I dont know, it will not bother me as much.

Who needs crowds of people? Well entertainers I guess. :)

"This is kind of funny tho, if it's a crowd of people I don't know, it will not bother me as much".

Hmmm....that is kind of funny?????

Maybe it's because you feel you won't have to interact as much with strangers as you would with crowds of people you know....

I don't like big crowds...We used to have to go to the Indianapolis 500 Race every year.
I hated being in the middle of so many people and lots of them were drunk and obnoxious...really nerve wracking for me.
My jaw would ache for days afterward from clenching my teeth the whole time we were there....lol.

You are probably right Anne. If this continues Im gonna ask you to be my Shrink... lol  :)

Hey Sir John Fowles had his 15 minutes of fame in Newspapers, now it's my turn.

I can just read it now, {Indiana woman helps New-Brunswick man overcome strange problems, while on a Gordon Lightfoot discussion web forum} !!! lol :)

By the way Nightingale here is the newspaper article that got John Fowles his 15 minutes of fame, in case you had not seen it. :)

That's a really great story about Sir John and his wife.
He was very fortunate that Susan figured out what was going on....

I love happy endings.

Sure, I'll be your shrink....giggle...

I just want you to know that I get all my advice from my dog. She is the best shrink I've ever had and loves me no matter how crazy I get!

Never trust a kitty though...they will blackmail you if they know your deepest, darkest secrets!

Shania comes on over to Muskoka*
Flees to family after split with producer hubbie
By JASON BUCKLAND, SUN MEDIA

Apparently by Up! Up! Up!, Shania Twain meant Muskoka.
After a much-publicized May split from her husband of 14 years, super-producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, the Canadian country star took a trip to the cottage paradise to be with family.
"She left (Friday)," confirmed Julia, a worker at the Muskoka* Airport who did not give her last name.
While the details surrounding the breakup are vague -- and what is known about her personal life even blurrier -- it's a sure thing that Twain doesn't usually make casual public appearances.
The 42-year-old from Timmons has been living in a castle in Switzerland with her 59-year-old ex, the man who brought us hits by AC/DC, Def Leppard and Bryan Adams.
The two have a son, 6-year-old Eja, together.
She is also rumoured now to be a vegetarian and devotee of Sant Mat, a strain of Sikh mysticism that advocates abstinence from sex and alcohol, hours of daily meditation and rigorous journal- keeping.
And while none of the usual celebrity hotspots saw her this most recent trip, the owner of one can attest to the vegetarian part.
Ronald Brabander, who runs Blondie's restaurant in nearby Gravenhurst, recalls catering for Shania one night and preparing 16 entrees to ensure there'd be one to fit her taste.
"We had an entire vegetarian menu," he said.
"We had to make smoked tofu in case she didn't like the arugula salad, and we had sushi rolls if she didn't like that."
Twain isn't the only celeb to zip up to the Muskokas, which are only increasing in popularity to the rich and famous.
RICH AND FAMOUS
Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell and daughter Kate Hudson are longtime staples in the area, with actor Tom Hanks and director Steven Spielberg supposedly owning property as well.
Billionaire media mogul Ted Rogers and Robert Lantos, founder of entertainment giant Alliance-Atlantis, each have massive estates along the water.

*Muskoka is cottage country north of Toronto and north of Gord's hometown of Orillia

and they are very pricey 'cottages'..they are huge homes actually..that just happen to be on prime real estate..
http://www.muskokacottagesforsale.com/Muskoka%20Cottage%20Listings.htm
and the folks fly in from the Toronto airport in small private planes so they don't get stuck in traffic..
scroll thru a couple of pages: http://images.google.ca/images?q=muskoka+cottages&btnG=Search+Images&gbv=2&hl=en&sa=2
Some NHL hockey players have places there too as well as Martin Short.

16 entrees to make sure there was one she liked? good grief..

Cottages that have boathouses and garden sheds larger than many city residential houses!!! Cathy & I took a tour of Lake Joseph years ago on the steam ship Segwin and could view the 'Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous' from the deck. Nice digs, but I still like my tent!

the 'cabin' I spent my summers at - Shania could have dropped by..it's in the bush outside of Timmins on Gibson Lake.. lol
slightly different than the Muskoka cottages..my grandfather felled the trees, stripped them, notched them and built it himself..one big room, wood stove, no electric/bathrooms/privacy..

Thats all pretty amazing Yuri & Char !!!

I saw the interview where Martin Short talks about that place he has up there.

I really enjoyed the way you put it Yuri ... "Nice digs, but I still like my tent!" ;)

Now THAT'S a COTTAGE Char!! Beautiful!
Why would anyone leave home if going to the cottage meant having the same porcelain washrooms, dishwashers, VCRs, Satellite TVs, Internet Cable, phones etc?
Is 'roughing it' really just going a week without pizza delivery?
Million Dollar Homes???? I can go one better...
See my million dollar view from my tent on the Missinaibi river. Now THAT's living!!
(Now can't you just hear a Lightfoot tune looking at that view?)

Well....it wasn't easy.

Just kidding.....you make a great point. I feel like such a 'softie' compared to our forefathers. I have found my few 'roughing it' experiences always remain among the most memorable and rewarding.
