A huge Stanley Cup
Published Saturday April 19th, 2008
Scotiabank staff and Aspen Properties workers set up a huge replica Stanley Cup in the front of the Scotiabank main branch downtown in Calgary yesterday. Wilf Plester, his brother Roger and sons Colin and Quentin built the cup at Black Diamond Industries in Black Diamond, Alta. Plester recently submitted details of his gigantic entry in the Scotiabank ‘Build Stanley’ contest and had built his Cup back in 2004 during the Calgary Flames’ playoff run. It is made of aluminum pipe and sheet aluminum, is 10 feet tall and the bowl is actually a light fixture from a restaurant near the Flames’ home ice at the Saddledome.
