Hi Doug and Happy Birthday.

You don't know me but I know who you are. In my pictures from past concerts in California you are in the backround. Maybe in October I will get to meet you.

I hope your birthday and everyday will be as special as you are.

Many Thanks to all who wished me a happy birthday....I am now 55.

Now the shocking news for some of you. We've sold our business (just waiting on signatures and cash from the buyer). We got significantly less than a broker told us it was worth but it's time to move on. I've been in the plumbing industry full-time since 1969 (yes you figured it out I was 16). My mother just turned 79 and my father will be 84 Dec 3. It's time for them to retire and enjoy what's left of their life. I will probably have more freedom to go to Massey Hall when the time comes.

If everything goes as planned Charlotte and I will be moving to Sacramento. I will be teaching and doing curriculum development for a plumbing educational foundation. So you say big deal.....it is for me. I'm a native San Diegan this move will be an adventure, but Charlotte and I are looking forward to new challenges. Our kids will be staying her in San Diego and living in our house which we hope to retain and perhaps one day retire in.

It sounds like you're doing it the 'Lightfoot' way......"Ever Onward". Congrats !

Plumbing is the only profession where you'll hear your boss say, "Be sure your 'joints' have lots of 'Dope' in them!"

"Your crap is my family's bread & butter."

A good flush beats a full house every time.

Hope you have lots of laughs on your birthday Doug!

If everything goes as planned Charlotte and I will be moving to Sacramento.

Well we made it to Sacramento!! Here is our house...well rats they took the pictures down.

I guess I'll have to post them another time. The best feature is the 2nd floor is all master bedroom probably 400 to 500 square feet. There is a deck off the master bedroom and a 34 acre park behind our fence...nice and quiet......EXCEPT last night someone was shooting off fireworks outside. Charlotte slept right through them.

Anyway we drove up Sunday (a little over 500 mi) and emptied the contents of the moving van on Monday 12/31. Lots of items had not been corrected so there was some hand wringing by Mrs Guru.

We are still unpacking items (that may go on for quite a while) but we set the bed up first and have a place to sleep. Much cooler up here than in the San Diego area.

Charlotte returns to our home in the south in a week leaving me by myself for almost 3 weeks. I don't think that's a good idea. I might get into some kind of trouble all by myself!!

Hi Doug,

Glad to hear you and Charlotte are safely in Sacramento. Your new home sounds wonderful. Sorry about the fireworks last night. I told my friends to stop making noise. Well, you probably didn't hear us because we are about 550 miles away in Orange County.

Best wishes for you both in 2008. What lucky students to have you for a teacher. :)

Sweet Sacramento . . . Holy Damn Hot Summers

Two things about Sacramento - no Three:

The Annual Old Town Traditional Jazz Festival;
Whitewater Rafting the American River; and
Tubing the Sacramento River

No - Four:

Ya gotta eat at Fat Franks [or is it Frank Fats] 'cross the street
from where The Governator works - where your likely to run into a
Big Time Lawyer Man by the name of Tim Flannigan.

Say *Howdy* from Rex in Balboa.

Sayin' bye to OB, PB, et. al. might be difficult, but bein' halfway
'tween San Francisco and Lake Tahoe ain't too bad.

Blessings on both your Birthday and Bravery . . .
