Probably many of you have heard by now, that the I-35W bridge (going through Minnespolis)completely collapsed right during rush hour this past Wednesday. There were at least 6 people killed, slthough that number is expected to rise, as there are still many people unaccounted for. Sixty-plus people were injured. They said the only thing that saved it from being even worse, was the fact that two of the eight lanes were closed for repair.
It just still doesn't even seem real.

Something like that can take a long time to sink in. I can't imagine what it must've been like for the people on the bridge. :(
I'd heard that they said it needed repairs since 1990. Somebody is going to be in some deep $hit over this ordeal.

It's as unbelievable a sight as 9/11 itself, the 2 TV news choppers that crashed here on July 27th or even the 1989 San Francisco earthquake.
That collapsed bridge looks reminiscent of that terrible quake and is a sadly chilling sight. My heart goes out to all that were on that bridge.
I was relieved to see that school bus made it across.

Yes, you're right. It looked SO much like the San Francisco earthquake. That wss my first thought when I saw it on TV. Maybe I shouldn't compare it to 9/11, but for a city this size it is huge.
