Have a nice weekend all you nice people out there ;in Germany we are celebrating Whitsun and Whit Monday this coming weekend and on Tuesday all schools are closed as well; so starting now I have a loooong weekend . We are planning to go to Hamburg for a `summer-in the-city kind of day, but 10 minutes ago it started to rain. Oh ,well. So now I´m surfing the net looking for accomodation for my summer trip to the U.K.- first one in more than 30 years!!! Those sites are huge! (esp. "bedandbreakfasts.co.uk" ) Have a look. Whit Sunday is the seventh Sunday after Easter, when Christians celebrate the Holy Spirit coming down from heaven. Its also called Pentecost. I think Whitsun being the British word.In Germany Monday following this Sunday is a legal holiday, with all shops closed. Vera

Hi! Thanks for the info. We have Pentecost. Just didn't know it by it's British name. So many of us have a Holiday on Monday. :) Here it's the beginning of Summer, too. Many schools get out right after Memorial Day and some are already out. "Summer" what a wonderful season! :) :)

looks, we 'Germans' are all going back home in the summer :) I'll be in Hannover from mid June to mid July. So let's hope, that all of north Germany is going to have a great and sunny summer - not always the case...
