On another sad note, renouned Canadian Celtic musician John Allan Cameron died today after a three year battle with bone cancer.

John Allan popularized East Coast Celtic music starting in the '60s when the Beatles were breaking onto the scene. Anne Murray even sang backup for him on his TV shows.

His revival of this folk style directly influenced many Canadian musicians such as 'The Rankins', 'The Barra MacNeils", Stan Rogers, Bruce Cockburn,
J.P. Cormier, Ashley McIssac and no doubt was well known to Gordon Lightfoot, Aengus Finnan and the like.

Hi Charlene and Yuri, Thanks for the post Yuri, and yes Charlene this is a sad day for Canadian Music. I saw him in 1976 at MHS here in Moncton, and we were well entertained. A great 12 string picker he was.

I was at JP Cormier's concert Saturday night, at The Capitol, and he mentioned that John Allan was not doing too good. It's as you said Char, it was a long time coming, had to end.

I can see from some posts, that everything went pretty good at Massey. Great pics, and fine stories.

The Poet Genuis still has it. Nice to see a pic of Yuri, with Gord...

Later...
