On another sad note, renouned Canadian Celtic musician John Allan Cameron died today after a three year battle with bone cancer.
John Allan popularized East Coast Celtic music starting in the '60s when the Beatles were breaking onto the scene. Anne Murray even sang backup for him on his TV shows.
His revival of this folk style directly influenced many Canadian musicians such as 'The Rankins', 'The Barra MacNeils", Stan Rogers, Bruce Cockburn,
J.P. Cormier, Ashley McIssac and no doubt was well known to Gordon Lightfoot, Aengus Finnan and the like.
