I got referred to this via a newsletter - it's great (and free):

PANDORA: YOUR PERSONAL INTERNET RADIO STATION
Have you ever dreamed about having your own private DJ who could fill your office with music that perfectly suits your taste? No commercials, and only the songs you really want to hear on that particular day.

Soloists [anyone]who have broadband Net access can tap into this environment at any time, thanks to Pandora, an Internet music service that creates a personalized music experience based on your choices. Since January 2000 the creative entrepreneurs behind this company have been working on the Music Genome Project, analyzing thousands of songs according to musical
attributes or "genes." Visitors to the site type in a favorite song or artist and Pandora assembles a playlist of music that matches the sensibility and style of your original selection. As new songs are played, you can give a "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" rating, thereby refining future selections.

These days I boot up my laptop, click on Pandora, and am off and running all day long. Great music in the background, and I've discovered some terrific new artists that I never would have found. Oh, and did I mention: it's all at no charge.

The founders of Pandora are on a nationwide tour these days promoting their service. Check out their blog to see the schedule and to learn more about this innovative company that seems so
perfectly aligned with the solo workstyle.

I've designed a "Gordon Lightfoot" station that plays Gord (of course) Jim Croce, Simon & Garfunkle, selected Neil Diamond, and others I'm still programming. Of the first six cuts presented, three were Gord numbers (I Used to Be a Country Singer, Beautiful, Much to My Surprise). Right now Jo Dee Messina is singing "Bring on the Rain." If you don't like what's playing, click on the "thumbs down" symbol, the song stops and they move on to the next selection. Neat.
