Sarah McLachlan to release Christmas album, first studio recording in 3 years

VANCOUVER (CP) - Sarah McLachlan's next album is a collection of Christmas tunes.
The 12-track CD, titled Wintersong, is McLachlan's first new studio recording in three years, her music label, Nettwerk Music Group, said Tuesday in a release.
The album, to be released Oct. 17, features Diana Krall on piano for the 1965 Charlie Brown song Christmas Time Is Here, and the Barenaked Ladies' Jim Creegan on double bass throughout.
Recorded at her home studio in Vancouver, the album includes McLachlan's take on John Lennon's 1971 peace song Happy Xmas (War is Over) and Joni Mitchell's 1971 song River.
She also sings Gordon Lightfoot's 1975 Song For A Winter's Night, and includes seasonal favourites I'll Be Home For Christmas and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.
The title track Wintersong is a new piece written by McLachlan.
