I've had issues with lack of sleep the last couple of years and is why I work the wacky and bizarre hours I do, basically work when I am upright sleep when I am not.

Just got my results this morning as well from my sleep tests I've had the last couple of months.

The doc showed me the results of the first one and I my immediate reaction was My oxygen level was about 93 instead of 100% and I had no deep REM sleep at all and it showed I had 16 awakenings and I was totally awake from 1-2 am which explains why I am sometimes up at 3 am.

The sleep test using the CPAP machine showed a complete reversal of the first one... I don't need to get my tonsils out thank goodness.

Interestingly the doc said you can be 6'7 160 lbs and still have obstructive sleep apnea it doesn't matter what you weigh and he was saying it's only been recently discovered that people who have this are born with a gene that predisposes them to getting it and as Deb said there is no cure for it just control.

Gord, are you going to use a CPAP machine? I have people using a CPap that are all different sizes, shapes and ages. Some of them have oxygen bled into the machine to keep their oxygen levels up.
93% is very, very good for where I live. Most of the people I do pulse/ox checks on are hovering near 90. I do get some that are 95% but in over a decade never anyone at 100% with out supplemental oxygen.
Wow 16 awakenings, those tests are full of amazing information aren't they?

I have an aunt that uses a CPAP machine when she sleeps. She also has sleep apnea, and was a heavy snorer. It's a miraculous piece of equipment. She says she sleeps better now than she ever did.
