View Full Version : Advertising Ebay Auctions

I am just curious how everyone feels about Lightfoot ebay items being linked here at corfid? Let me preface this by saying that I consider myself a dear friend of yours, Sir John and this is not a personal attack on your good and generous ways.

But...and there is always a but :) , seems to me that ebay is a pretty well known place to scope out Lightfoot stuff if one is truly searching for that elusive item and does not need advertising. I understand that you are alerting fellow fans of rarities and one of kinds, John. However if someone in this group has discovered it on their own and has already placed bid...then by posting a link to said item is inviting competition, a bidding war and eventual price inflation among friends who might not have been part of the auction otherwise. Consider the situation...how many of us share that we have found that elusive item and are currently bidding on it? That would be bid suicide and the only one who benefits from that is the seller.

Just a thought and wanted to put it out there incase anyone else feels that way I do. I would be happy to be proved to be in the minority and apologize for bringing this up.

And again, I mean no harm to your exuberance of sharing "all things Lightfoot" John. Love ya! ;)

Never thought of that Diane, but I have to agree with you. I go to eBay myself every couple days and check, as I am sure most others do to. I am sure if I was bidding on something that I have wanted for a long time and found it advertised on here I would be gritting my teeth. lol

You are absolutely correct Diane and have shown truly remarkable prescience (at least I think that is an apposite word!!)because in fact I got my fingers burnt last week exactly as you predicted.
I will cease my efforts forhwith.I basically only wanted to share some interesting album artwork and few other goodies.
And recently highlighting how at least one character is making illicit money at Gord's expense
I will though give my two short links again that take you to the relevant Lightfoot ebay pages sorted newest items first

and

John
I just checked those links and they work a treat

Wow, Diane, I never thought of it from that perspective. I'm not an ebay shopper - for things Lightfoot or otherwise - but I can certainly understand how frustrating it would be to suddenly have a bidding war going on because of something advertised here. I agree that anyone here who is interested in eBay and Lightfoot memorabilia , regularly check it out themselves, anyway - and if they don't, then it *should* be their loss.

Thanks Deb and Janice for taking the time to ponder this and understanding my point.

And John, extra hug awaits you in Concord. :)

Diane,
I hope you're not bidding on the items newly posted as pics at the General Discussion forum....could be lots of movement at EBay now...it may be time to stop bidding!
;)
