I've been listening to certain music these past few days that I needed to hear.

Memorial Day Music:

Gord's "The Patriot's Dream" and "Protocal"

John Denver's "Readjustment Blues" and version of "Jimmy Newman"

John Stewart's "Draft Age" and "Survivors"

The Kingston Trios versions of "The Patriot Game" and "Last Night I Had the Strangest Dream"

The Band's "Night They Drove ol' Dixie Down"

Iris de Mente's "There's a Wall in Washington" and "My Life"

Dvorzak's (sp) New World Symphony

Pete Seger's "Waist Deep in the Big Muddy"

Jimmie Rodgers versions of "Child of Clay" and "Today"

Mavis Staples version of Steven Foster's "Hard Times"

Elvis version of "If I Can Dream"

and more . . .

Music Sings to Need.

Deep Peace,

All great selections Rez! I was practicing my guitar this afternoon and by coincidence or serendipity found myself playing "The Patriot's Dream" and "Sit Down Young Stranger." And no, not at the same time! :)

Forgot a few:

Mahalia Jackson's version of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"

Roy Acuff's version of "Faith of Our Fathers"

Ray Charles version of "America" and "There'll be No Peace Until All Men Are One"

The Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa Childrens Choir's version of "Let There Be Peace on Earth"

The Cumberland Trio's version of "Tenting Tonight on the Old Camp Ground"

The Rez's live version of Chopin's Sonata in A minor on 25yr old DX-7. Wish I had a piano.

CC,

"Sit Down Young Stranger" Of course. Thank you.

And thank Gord for the idea of bringing in Rick's bass at the key change. I shiver each time. It brings it even more home. I'll listen now. It hit home in my youth and continues.

I liked Joan Baez's version of "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down."

Yes, Sheryl, she did it well. Perhaps she's the only lady who could sing that song-that-sounds-100-yrs old w/o changing the gender in the lyric.

Amazing, graceful lady still,

One more piece to listen to in bed on headphones.

Richard Harris collaboration w/ Jimmy Webb:

"The Yard Went on Forever"
