View Full Version : Dating again...

This is being posted to three different fan sites because, in one way or another, it is relevant to all three. I am known as Crozie at one, SpringChicken at another, and AZroute74 at the third. Those who read it may not completely understand everything I say. If not, please forgive me.

I have just begun dating again after my marriage ended a year ago. At the sites that know me as Crozie and AZroute74, readers know that the marriage breakup was especially painful for me. Some may have mixed feelings about my beginning to date again, but please be a sort of cyber-Chuck-Woollery and let me tell you about my "Love Connection" date. It's too soon to say love, I know, and it's nowhere near there yet, but wait till you hear this.

So I bring the guy home after a movie. Our second date. First one was a simple coffee-at-Starbucks thing. Turns out he has some mobility problems, and unfortunately I live on the third floor, so by the time he got up the stairs, he ended up having to stay a few nights (on my recliner…don't get any ideas!!) because he couldn't move well enough to leave.

Later I'm taking a shower. We've been listening to CD's because we have love of music in common, so I tell him he can listen to whatever CD he wants to. I was deadly curious to see what CD he would select. Sort of a compatibility test, I suppose. When the water stops running, I can hear what he's picked out. He's playing good old Gordon Lightfoot. And singing along. And it's an obscure album cut, not one of his hit singles.

He has read the EC books and his favorite character is Shamud from Valley of Horses.

He not only knows who David Yost is, but remembers him from an acting role OTHER than as Billy on the original Power Rangers series.

Well, we ended up spending a little more time together than we anticipated that time, but there has since been a third date. And will most likely be more.

Only one major challenge so far: We met at church, a church I had gone to a few years before when I was married to the man that people at the EC fansite know as SquirrelTotem. (I've been married four times, but I don't feel in danger of #5 because I have no plans for a #5.) Several deacons remembered me from that time, and the trouble was that they couldn't accurately remember whether it was me or ST who was the "con artist," to use the deacons' words. (It was him, not me, as the EC fans know.) So before I was ever approached for the first date, those deacons separately went to the pastor, who "warned" him about me. It was much the same way that hubby #4 Polar Bear's sister interfered with HIS decision to date me. I thought, oh good grief, it's Polar Bear all over again, except that this time it's the church interfering, not family. What hurt most was the pastor saying, "I would hate to see you lose all the progress you've made." When word got to me that this had been said, it translated in my mind as "She's relationship poison and will undo every good thing that has ever happened to you."

But there is a difference between Polar Bear and the man who, if I mention him again, I will call Sea Horse. Polar Bear responded to the interference by telling me one thing and his sister the opposite, going by whatever each of us wanted to hear. Sea Horse doesn't play that. He speaks up. He knows something of interference. Four years ago, his fiancee died of kidney failure six months before they were to get married. Never mind that he was the one who had cared for her during her final days, her parents didn't approve of their relationship, and therefore he was barred from visitation and the funeral service. Which I find absolutely outrageous. So, by the way, does the pastor. It has taken him this long to mend his heart enough to date again. Maybe that's what the pastor meant about losing his progress, but I can't help but wonder what's wrong with dating ME? But, having experienced his own interference, he wasn't going to let it happen again. He said thank you, but he is perfectly capable of picking his own friends and dates, and please don't insult his intelligence. Polar Bear wouldn't have had the guts to say that.

I apologize for the length of the post and for the parts that would be irrelevant to maybe two of the fansites I'm posting it to. Just thought I'd check in.

And a lot more lovin' too

And the dawn peeks through
You got a lot more livin' to do"

brain that was very cool of you to write something like that it. any ways i am just popping in to ask any body know how i feel when i say this poem My mine

I scream
Because of my personal hell
I scream
For help
But no one will let me out
I run
In a circle because there is
No place to hide
No corners
No hallways
Just a big place of darkness
I hear something
It is a drum
No wait it a heart
It is mine
I hear it beats like drums from hell in my ears
Now I scream
Everyone is around me
Laughing and talking
No one notice the fight
That is in my head

If you read anything, just stick to the Main forum. Don't go to the Testforum whatever you do.
