Well, I say "new" because they're previously unreleased songs recorded wa-a-y back. The ezine FOLKWAX has a review in this week's issue [excerpt]:

"This interesting CD from the legend who told us not to mess around with Jim and told us just how bad "Leroy Brown" was, has perhaps the most succinctly descriptive title I have seen in a long time. Jim Croce: Home Recordings is....just that- a set of 15 songs that Jim recorded in his house in the mid-60s on an old Wollensak tape recorder before the rise of his legendary singing and songwriting career."

As expected the technical quality is so-so in comparison with today's technology and the songs are all over the map in style but it does give the listener an idea of where his roots were and a hint of the direction he'd be going musically. For Jim Croce enthusiasts.

Go to Amazon.com and enter "Home Recordings-Americana" to call it up. There are several 30 second samples.

Thanks, Annie. I heard about this CD about a month ago, and will definitely buy it. It's pretty basic, barebone stuff, just jim and his guitar, but sometimes I prefer it that way. It definitely shows of his guitar skills.

Thanks Annie, I too had heard about this a while ago and lost track of where it was in being released. Thanks I am ordering it as soon as I can. Groce was great, and gone too soon.

Hello, the cd is wonderful. Another Croce must have is the live DVD, where there is an interview with his wife, and live performances, where Jim tells stories, and the music is just him and another guitarist.
