I’m planning my wedding and trying to select a song for the father daughter waltz. Because my dad is a big GL fan I thought it would be nice to play one of his songs for this dance. If anyone has any suggestions on something that would be appropriate I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank-you.

How about Fine as Fine Can Be? I believe Gordon wrote it for his daughter, and it is used for father-daughter dances at weddings.

How about I'll Prove My Love?

I vote for Fine As Fine Can Be. It's a very touching song from a father to a daughter, and it's in 3/4 time, perfect for waltzing.

Here are the lyrics, Trena.

Fine As Fine Can Be, ©1975 by Gordon Lightfoot

You're as soft as the rose
You're as sweet as the honey
You're as warm as the bright morning sun
You're as cool as the breeze on the last days of April
You're as fine as fine can be

You're like time is to space
You're like faith is to trusting
You're like blue is to feeling unkind
You're like joy is to love,
You're like dreams are for chasing
You're as fine as fine can be

And when I am gone my thoughts are all with you
You're my little angel you see
You're as bright as the moon
You're as light as a feather
You're as fine as fine can be

Like the rain is for the crops
You're like food for my thoughts
You're like true is for knowing what's not
You're like leaves are for trees
You're like bees are for buzzing
You're as fine as fine can be

You're as bright as the moon
You're as light as a feather
You're as fine as fine can be

Fine as Fine can be ... has to be.
You Dad can sing it to you as you
waltz around the room.
btw Congratulations - be happy.

Thank-you all for your help - I can't wait to get the cd and hear the song. I think my dad will be quite touched by this selection.

Thanks again for taking time to respond.

PS. Knowing the words is a great plus (txs Cathy)
